They share a common enemy, the vast wilderness, the challenges of survival, and the rival indigenous faction of goblins that have populated the interior of the continent. Iris, having revealed information about Elara and her backstory, is set on the mission of delivering Elara to her gilded cage of a palace in the southwestern corner of the continent.
